Oh my, how I’ve neglected my blog! I went to look back at my recent previous posts, and I see there are not any from last month! I knew I was a bit behind, but I just didn’t realize how bad! No looking back now, onward and upward!
Leading up to Christmas I had put a lot of pressure on myself again to make a lot of gifts. Sometimes it does save money, if I can make something from the stash of yarn that I have at home. But usually I pick a project, then go spend money on some nice yarn. Truth be told, for some of the gifts I could have just bought a small gift for the same cost. But, for most of the items, I wanted to put some effort and love into the gift and that’s why I did it! For a recap, I made:
1 pair of arm warmers
That doesn’t seem like too much. But if you look at making one item a week, that is three month’s worth of knitting! Just a bit too much. But, I finished. . . late on Christmas eve! After that, I just didn’t feel like doing any crafts for a couple of weeks.
Then, a couple of nights ago, I was looking through Pinterest, and saw something on an owl. I’ve been wanting an owl something (scarf, earrings, necklace), and this was a really cute knitting pattern. It was a hat, but I figured I could take the pattern and put it on a scarf. Well, the link to the pattern didn’t work right and I spent quite a long time looking through patterns and trying to find something I liked. What I ended up doing was making up my own pattern. I went through four different variations, and ended up with this.
I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, and now I want to buy some nice brown yarn and make a small scarf with an owl at each end. I will be starting that once I finish a couple of baby gifts and I am also starting on a year long knit-a-long. I don’t have the details in front of me, but I’m going to get the pattern, get some yarn, start working on some pieces and then I’ll do a post!
