My last post was in late March, just a couple of days before everything seemed to happen. So a quick update on things. . .
My Father-in-law has stage 4 cancer. Unfortunately right after my last post he took a turn for the worse and my husband had to call an ambulance to get him to the hospital. Fast forward to today, we’ve helped the family situate my in-laws in an assisted living facility (across the country, by one of his sisters) and my father-in-law is in hospice. We’ve cleaned out their apartment, shipped furniture and their cat (by a loving person who drove the four days back there), and are trying to deal with all of the fallout from the move and health problems.
The owner of the place we were living in the last four years decided he had to sell *right away* because his wife needed another cancer operation and they were too far in debt. We got a 30 day notice in email, just days after we gave notice at my in-laws apartment. That meant a move for us AND get his parents out in one month’s time. Stress on top of the health issues.
The last part of this time period was a self-study assessment report that I was working on with my boss. It comes once every 6 years, and was due, yes of course, the same day we had to be out of our house and have my in-laws stuff out of their place.
So today, I’m moved, situated (for now), looking to move forward. I try to be positive, things happen for a reason. I’m sure we’ll have a better place to be without the last minute stress of a quick move, my report was sent off with *hours* to spare, and I have time off now to take a few breaths and relax. Most important, I kept my knitting supplies right near by, and have my sewing and beading in easy reach. I finished two tree of life baby afghans (and already gave them away, without pictures), and I’m now working on a pink afghan for my oldest granddaughter. I also helped to put on the baby shower for my daughter, not as much as I would have liked, but I did help. As a matter of fact, I helped make the fruit baby carriage below!
And the shower was fairy themed. Look at how cute the candy table turned out!
I also have a scarf project ready to go and a couple other items I’ve of course purchased yarn for but have not been able to start. So I will have quite a few more upbeat, crafty posts in the near future! Oh, and we’re back to trying new breweries. We just went to La Verne Brewing yesterday. More on that in upcoming posts!
