We finished our mud run! This year my daughter and I decided to wear a costume. And my new motto is if you are going to do something, then own it. I may have heard that around a bit, but I like it. I’m usually quite shy, and tend to try things just a little. I’ve done that in the past with costumes, to the point that people don’t even realize I’m wearing one. So this year we went all out!
We looked quite cute before the run. We even had a little girl say, “how pretty!” Originally we were not going to wear a headband and have a wand, but they came with the wings, so we figured why not!
The race itself was similar to last year. Except this year they only had one water station (not good for over 3 miles of running and obstacles, plus it was warm out), and the obstacle at the end had a long line because people were crowding on and making it hard for those above them to climb. But this year I was able to do the monkey bars. Not hand over hand, but hand to hand then to the next bar. But I did it! Of course we were quite muddy at the end. To save water, they had everyone finish walking through the lake to clean off instead of a big mud pit at the end and showers (although there was a little mud pit at the end). As you can see from the pictures below, my headband did not make it (it got stuck in a netting somewhere, with people behind me yelling to move on), and the wings, well, I wasn’t able to save those as well!
We had a blast!
