Sewing and Running

Mud Run

Since my last update I’ve been sewing, running and reading. Plus, some family things came up that didn’t keep me from posting, but kept me from wanting to post. But, things get better, other things happen, and I end up having a bit of this and that to post.

First, I finished a Halloween outfit for my Granddaughter. My daughter just loves Halloween, so I thought I would make her daughter a cute dress. Not a costume though. I don’t want to assume that I know what my Granddaughter should be, so I told my daughter if she wants me to make one all she has to do is let me know what she wants. I don’t think that is going to happen this year. That’s okay! I figured I could at least make a cute Halloween dress though! I bought some cute material and picked the pattern that my daughter liked the best of the other dresses I have made.

And I have to say, I think it turned out really cute!

I also started on the skirt for my youngest daughter’s costume. But I haven’t taken pictures yet. I’ve only done the under skirt, but I will be working on the lace under skirt and black over skirt tomorrow. I plan to post pictures of that after I’m able to try it on her and hem it!

I also finished a work skirt for myself. Nothing fancy, but I think it’s really cute!

It was fairly easy to make and it fits nice.

Next, I went on to make a long skirt for myself. I hate cutting these types out since it has to be done on the floor and that really bothers my knees.

I’ve sewn the skirt, but I am having a bit of trouble with the hem. I’ve ironed and pinned it a couple of times, but it’s just not right. I’ve done another set of ironing and pinning, and I’ll try it on tomorrow to be sure it’s right. Hopefully it is and then I’ll sew up the hem and have another great work skirt! Then all I’ll need are some really cute brown ankle boots!

And on a last fun note, my youngest daughter and I did a mud run today. It had quite a lot of obstacles and a lot of mud. It was done much better than the last mud run I did with my older daughter a few years ago. I only have a few cuts and bruises from the event, but it was great! I have before and after pictures, but none from the race yet (that was basically blocked off from spectators, but I hope to get some from the race photographers). Anyhow, here are the couple of pictures I do have!
