I got a late start on my pjs, but I finished them! I already had the pattern, Butterick 5432, but I didn’t have the material. Realizing it was going to be a bit before I had my car at work (and therefore able to go shopping at lunch), I decided to order my material online. I picked out a very pretty blue tie-dye and waited for it to arrive. Only, when I received my shipping confirmation the next day, it stated it was due to be delivered on the 26th. The sew-along is over on the 28th! My daughter offered to go with me to the fabric store a couple of nights later and off we went!
I had made these pyjamas before when showing my younger daughter how to sew. I did a full length one, and some shorts. Both times I followed the pattern. When my daughter made hers, she didn’t like how high they came on her waist, so she altered them and finished them to her liking (I think she’s going to be a natural sewer if she ever has time). I thought about that when making these, but not soon enough. I finished them up (making the knee length ones this time), and tried them on with the elastic, and realized that she is right, they come up quite high on the waist. It didn’t bother me with the other ones, until she said something! Even though I should have tried them on and made alterations before this point, I never-the-less pinned them where I wanted to (these are my pants after all, so I can change them as I please – yes, I said this to myself to give myself encouragement!), and re-cut and sewed. And now I’m really happy with the way they turned out!
I think you can see in the picture above my Kindle. Part of the sew-along request was to note the books you are reading right now. I tend to read like I sew and knit, many at one time! Since most of my books are now on my Kindle, I thought I’d show a picture of that as well. I have a lovely purple leather case for it, with a fairy skin cover.
As for what I am reading, I just finished “Breakfast of Champions” by Kurt Vonnegut, and I’m still reading “10th Anniversary” by James Patterson, “The Marriage Plot” by Jeffrey Eugenides and “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest” by Stieg Larsson. A temporary break from my paranormals!
Oh, and while I was trying to nicely take a picture of me in my pyjamas, my dog decided to come join me. He’s a great buddy (mix between an Australian Shepard and a German Shepard). So, here is my final pyjama picture.
